Derrick Johnson, Jr.

Chief Operating Officer

Derrick Johnson Jr. is a dynamic motivational speaker, dedicated police officer, and expressive writing facilitator committed to helping youth and communities unlock their full potential. With a powerful personal story and over seven years in law enforcement, Derrick brings a unique blend of lived experience, professional discipline, and heartfelt service to every room he enters.

Raised in Baltimore City in a single-parent household with three siblings, Derrick learned early the value of hard work, focus, and perseverance. His drive to avoid a life of poverty and crime led him down a path of purpose, first as a successful entrepreneur, then as a mentor and public servant. In 2018, he was named Officer of the Year by the Maryland Transit Police Department for his commitment to excellence and community engagement.

Before entering law enforcement, Derrick mentored hundreds of at-risk youth as a residential counselor at Sheppard Pratt Mental Health Facility. He now uses that same passion and insight to inspire students, educators, and young men across the country through powerful storytelling, writing workshops, and leadership development.

A former hip-hop artist turned transformational speaker, Derrick connects deeply with audiences by drawing from his life as both a creative and a community protector. His message is simple but profound: every young person carries a gift the world desperately needs, and it’s our responsibility to help them see it, believe it, and act on it.

Derrick partners with schools, nonprofits, and city leaders to empower students and uplift communities. Whether he’s on stage, in uniform, or mentoring face-to-face, his mission remains the same, to lead with purpose, inspire with truth, and serve with integrity.
